Charlie our head mechanic recently undertook a week’s training and assessment for the CYTEC Level 3 Accreditation in Stafford, achieving this world wide acknowledged accreditation.
What Does This Mean?
He is now recognised as one of the youngest ever to achieve this top bike mechanic status and it is a testament to the pride, skill and attention to detail he daily demonstrates maintaining the hire fleet.
Charlie competes nationally in downhill races on his Mondraker bike, and regularly achieves top ten places.
The diversity of the bike hire fleet from basic hybrid leisure bikes to top end off-road full suspension E Bikes has offered a unique diverse opportunity of learning.
Here at Lake District bikes we have, to compliment Charlies achievement, introduced ‘Bikebook’, a digital maintenance diary of each and every bike we hire.
We continue to hire a fantastic range of types and sizes of bikes with pride and confidence that you will have a safe pleasurable ride.
We look forward to your return visit to the Lake District National Park!

What Did Charlie Have To Say?
I am very fortunate to live only 400 metres from Lake District Bikes having been born and bred in Lowick Green. Initially John took me on to clean dirty bikes and through his patience, encouragement and knowledge he encourages me to expand my bike mechanic skills and experience.
I passed Cytec level 2 in December 2023 and have been working towards Level 3 for 18 months. In June this year John invited me to participate in the Level 3 Bike Mechanic course/assessment in Stafford, where I gained my Cytec level 3 accreditation. I am particularly proud to be one of the youngest people ever to achieve Level 3.
I am continuing to expand my bike maintenance knowledge on the hire fleet of over 100 bikes, and John is introducing me into guiding rides as well as meeting clients for the bike hire handovers. Next I hope to get a qualification in Guiding rides both on and off road.
