Im a lady and this bike was the perfect fit as I’m 5ft 4 . John watched me ride up and down the drive and tweeked the saddle height and angle and it was perfect all day. A real treat cycling round his beautiful quiet area .

John suggested this bike to hire as Im a medium sized lady. This Enigma Titanium experience was a day to remember as the day was so very beautiful and the bike a perfect fit. This is the first time I have ridden a titanium framed bike and I will be back for more.

I had no idea roads could be so steep but the 30% pitch on Wrynose Pass had me walking. Britain’s Best ride is so very varied and beyond beautiful, really really special and also a test of cycling ability and fitness. This Enigma was perfect for this ride but my legs could not manage the steepest pitch. A great bike!

I’ve owned 2 titanium bikes in the past. A Linskey era Litespeed Vortex (6.4 cadmium/aluminium) and an American Bike Group era Litespeed Archon. The first was a great bike, the second, terrible. The Etape which John Sutcliffe rented to me was fast, responsive, climbed like a Banshee and descended very well. I highly recommend it with disc brakes if you are riding he steeps of the Lake District. It had an amazing responsiveness and I would buy one if I lived in England where it is made.

The Enigma Etape was ideal for me and was set up perfectly by John. It was great to have the disc brakes, especially when descending Wrynose Pass. The bike should be good for climbing as it’s light and has low gearing, although I probably didn’t do it justice. It was also comfortable to ride, the bike having a quality Selle Italia saddle.
The bike was a joy to ride and the customer service I had from John was impeccable.

John said this was the bike for me on the Broughton young farmers charity ride, as there were two nasty climbs. Im so glad I took up his suggestion as the larger gearing on the rear cassette almost helped me peddle up the steeps… but not quite.Im no cyclist but I soon realised that this is an exceptional bike the likes of which I will probably not have the opportunity to ride again. The mudguards also helped keep me clean as there was lots of water on the Cumbrian roads in late February. Thanks John for all your help.

    OWNER’S REVIEW
Climb aboard this Etape and immediately you will feel at home. Out on the open Lake District roads its difficult not to be impressed. The Etape handles very well and is more relaxes than the other Enigma models – thanks in part to the more laid back frame geometry and a longer wheel base. The trade mark ride quality of titanium is immediately noticeable, forgiving any road unevenness for a very comfortable ride. The disc brakes and mudguards make this bike a true all weather ride.
