Group Guided Rides FAQs

Can I bring my own bike?

Yes, of course you can as these rides will be almost entirely on road.

Can I sort out my own accommodation?

Yes ,no problem there are numerous hotels,B&Bs ,caravan and camp sites in the locality.

How long are the daily rides?

Usually we start at 10am and finish the rides about 3-4pm,

Do you stop?

Yes, frequently for coffee stops, lunch, and a cake/ice cream stop in the afternoon. There is also the opportunity to stop for photos.

How fast do you go?

This is entirely dependent on the group and the terrain we are cycling over. These rides are not a race but a gentle, brisk speed to appreciate the beautiful Lake District. Personally I go slow up hills and fast down hills, but never leave anyone behind. The average speed on the flats is approx 16mph, but over an undulating ride the average speed may drop to below 10mph.

Is it possible to hire road E-bikes and join this group ride?

Yes ,we have done this before as the E-bike riders leave the standard bikes behind on the hills ,but manage to keep up on the flats. But don’t forget you have to pedal all the time and the motor assistance is only to 15mph.

How do I book?

Email John who will then send you a Paypal invoice.

Where do we meet?

All the rides originate from and finish at our base in Lowick, LA12 8DX. For those cyclists bringing their own bikes ,there is adequate parking for cars and overnight storage for their bikes if required. The rides leave Lowick at 10am prompt.

What does the Guiding fee cover?

Only the guided daily ride. No other costs such as coffee /cakes/lunch/drinks are included.

Can I join the guided group rides on selected days only?

Yes, provided the group has space to accommodate additional cyclists this is possible. The maximum number of cyclists in a group is limited to 8.

Im not available to join a group ride can i come another time?

Yes, guided road ride adventures can be booked in advance for individuals or groups, as are self guided holiday rides. These are available for all types of cyclists and all fitness levels.

How can I best enjoy a group guided cycling holiday?

Its always best to get some basic cycling fitness in your legs and lungs well in advance to your holiday. This may be exercise or spinning classes ,and/or regular rides on your bike. The more preparation you put the more enjoyment you will get out of cycling in the Lake District.

Can I discuss the Cycling holiday with you?
