Fred Whitton – 4 Seasons Bike Adventure

This epic ride is available to be completed 365 days a year at your own pace. It’s a fantastic opportunity for individuals, clubs and groups to complete this ride, one of the most challenging cycling adventures in the country. If in one day or even over two days you can get an official finish time on the Fred Whitton web site.

The 4 seasons tour has been developed by using a state of the art timing facility developed by spotrident UK, situated in Coniston Village the original start of this ride. It’s free to log in in Coniston, and in the spirit of the rides origin, which raises funds for cancers charities and the promotion of facilities for young cyclists, riders are encouraged to offer a donation to a cancer charity of their choice. On completion of the ride the timing cards must be handed into the Coniston garage shop counter. The staff there will record your times and add it to the challenge web site. Full logging in details are available from the Tourist information Office in Coniston.

Please note that this ride is not recommended in winter as the conditions over the passes will be very dangerous with snow ice and strong winds. Great care should be taken in assessing the weather forecasts prior to attempting this adventure as here in the Lakes the mountain passes are in another world!
