Cartmel Peninsula

Distance: approx 20 miles

Part of this ride follows the old horse and coach route through Bouth. There are a few small hills to start with before arriving on the flatter peninsula road. This takes us past Holker Hall into the very old village of Cartmel. There is ample time to visit Cartmel Priory which dates back to Norman times in the 11th century, and a cafe stop. We meander our way back through the country lanes eventually landing up in Newby Bridge, at the foot of Lake Windermere, before heading back to Lowick.

There are lots of options for this ride which can be extended to take in Grange over Sands and the Lyth Valley.
