What is an E-Bike?

Electric bikes offer additional power. You still have to pedal but the additional power makes your cycling much easier. These E -Bikes supplement the existing fleet of conventional hire bikes and allow a relatively unfit person to enjoy cycling with the rest of their family or friends. They have an assisted range of up to 60 miles, and a maximum assisted top speed of 15mph.

You have to be over 14 years old to legally ride an E-Bike.

    Emma

    Izzy whizzy lets get ….cycling.

I am now addicted to ebiking. I thought they were for the unfit or old people. How wrong I was. They are so much fun and they are NOT A CHEAT.

Basically after renting for a day, I’ve been telling people about them none stop. They flatten out the hills, they let you ride into a headwind without loosing the will to live, they zoom you up the hills. They actually put the enjoyment back into cycling in the lakes.

Yes you still have to pedal and you still get a work out and you still get a bit sweaty. There are so many big hills here and basically an ebike flattens them. You can actually talk to someone while out riding.

You are in control of how much oomph you receive. I only really used the first two levels eco and tour. The others sport and turbo are for the serious hills and passes (yes I pressed these on a couple of hills and enjoyed whizzing up steep hils at 15mph).

It’s not a walk in the park, you still have to pedal and you certainly feel you’ve done a ride but the beauty is there is no fear of bonking or having to get off and push or planning routes to avoid the big hills.

    JUST RENT ONE – awesome
