The Lake District Explorer… Guided Cycling Holiday
We already have bookings for group guided road adventure rides in 2018.
The dates available are:
- May bank holiday weekend 5/6/7 May 2018
- September 8-15 2018
These rides are suitable for cyclists with a certain amount of cycling fitness, who probably regularly get in at least two days cycling a week and are prepared to build up their fitness prior to this holiday. The rides will be 40-60 miles each day over the quiet Lakeland lanes.
May Bank Holiday Weekend 5-7 May 2018
|Friday (5th):||Arrive at Lowick|
|Saturday (6th):||a 50-60 mile guided ride around the southern end of the Lake District National park and the Furness peninsular.|
|Sunday (7th):||a 40-50 mile guided ride taking in the Cartmel Valley,Cartmel,Grange over Sands, and the Lyth Valley.|
|Monday (8th):||half day ride around Coniston water leave for home early afternoon.|
- 2.5 Days Guided rides £140
- standard road bike hire £75
- B&B accommodation based on one person in one room £50-£65 per night
- B&B accommodation based on two sharing £75-£85 per room
September 8-15 2018
|Saturday (8th):||60 mile ride around the Furness Peninsular visiting the historic Furness Abbey (ruins) with fantastic views over the Duddon Estuary.|
|Sunday (9th):||40-50 mile ride around the South Lakes, Coniston Water,Windermere, Hawkshead, and other Lakes and Tarns.|
|Monday (10th):||40-50 miles Cartmel and Lyth Valley including a visit to Cartmel medieval village and Cartmel Priory.|
|Tuesday (11th):||Off road E-Bike experience on tracks overlooking Coniston Water and the feels and mountains of The Lake District (partial recovery day!).|
|Wednesday (12th):||Britain’s Best Ride 40 miles including the ascent of Wrynose pass, not a long distance but lots of climbing. A hard day!|
|Thursday (13th):||Lets see how you are feeling! 30-40 miles on flatter roads to warm down? Or a crazy last minute rush up some deep hills?|
|Saturday (15th):||No rides.|
- Road bike £120 for the week (special pedals can be fitted to fit your cleats)
- Helmet £20 a week
- Daily cost of guide as an individual £70/day The first day will be a half day at £35
- B&B in the village £50/night based on 7 night stay
- Collection from and return to Windermere £60
Cost per person
- Guided cycling adventure 7 days cycling £ 450
- Bike hire 7 days standard road bike £120
- B&B 7 nights £350-£450 for single rooms
- B&B 7 nights per room for couples £490- £598 PER ROOM
Discounts from the guided ride price may be applicable for families or small groups.
The maximum number of rides on guided rides is EIGHT cyclists.
If any other rider joins this week’s riding, the Guiding fees will be discounted proportionately. The above is a guide and can be altered by mutual agreement when you are here. For instance we may jump in the car with the bikes and drive into The Yorkshire Dales for a different days riding. The weather conditions are always a major consideration.
The above costings include coffee and lunch stops on the rides but does not include any payment for food or beverages other than breakfast at the B&B. There are 3 local pubs within 1 mile of the B&B in Lowick for evening meals.
The above itinerary does not include any entry fees to historic buildings the majority of which we view from afar and only enter the free ones if you wish.
The above will give you a fantastic insight into the history and beauty of this area while exercising your mind and body.
Terms: 50% deposit on booking, with 50% balance due 30 days prior to visit. Prices of Accommodation subject to availability.
