Wow this year the bluebells that carpet the natural desciduous woods of the Lake District are AMAZING.
The cold weather of April followed by some rainfall have suited the Bluebells, which are currently in full flower and the scent is divine. The warm sunny May days we have recently been enjoying illuminate the Bluebells as the sun shines through the new emerging leaves on the native trees. Cycling is the best way to see so many different Bluebell dells in the south Lake District. I have stopped to photograph just a few of the most vivid especially on Bessy Bank, Bleatherbarrow Lane and in Oxen Park. But photographs are so lacking as they barely capture the intensity of colour and cannot explain the sensuous aroma that is pure, wild Bluebell.
